      Yoga is an ancient practice with more than 5,000 years of evolution. The earliest written record of yoga is the Yog Sutr, written over 2,000 years ago by the Indian philosopher Patanjali. Today, yoga has become popularized outside of India as a form of exercise of both the mind and body. In the US its practice emphasizes physical exercise based on asanas, or poses.

Along with these general improvements, yoga has also been shown to help with arthritis, asthma, chronic neck pain, lower back pain, migraines, cardiovascular disease, cancer related fatigue, anxiety and depression, and sleep.

      Yoga is emerging as a popular complementary therapy for Parkinson's disease, helping patients increase flexibility, improve posture, relax tight, painful muscles and instil confidence. A study by American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) confirms that Yoga Therapy has visibly reduced tremors and improved the steadiness of an individual's gait.
